What Emirates Health Services is
EHS is a federal public establishment created by Cabinet Resolution No. 9 of 2016, headquartered in Dubai. Its board was formed in April 2020, and it took over day-to-day running of the federal hospitals and clinics that the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) used to operate.
The split is simple:
- MOHAP sets policy and licenses professionals and private facilities (see our MOHAP license guide).
- EHS delivers care: hospitals, primary health centres, public health centres, medical fitness centres and ambulances.
EHS does not run government hospitals in Abu Dhabi. Those belong to SEHA. In Dubai, most public hospitals and primary care belong to the Dubai Health Authority network, not EHS.

Emirates Health Services in Sharjah
Sharjah is EHS's biggest footprint, with six hospitals. If you live in Sharjah:
- Emergencies and major surgery: Al Qassimi Hospital (Sharjah city) and Kuwait Hospital Sharjah. On the east coast, Khorfakkan and Kalba hospitals. In the central region, Al Dhaid Hospital.
- Maternity and children: Al Qassimi Hospital for Women and Children.
- GP and family medicine: EHS primary health centres across Sharjah, such as Sharjah Health Center. Book in the app and choose Sharjah as the emirate.
- Vaccinations and public health: Sharjah Public Health Center.
- Visa medical: EHS medical fitness centres handle residency medical screening in the Northern Emirates. For Dubai visas, see our medical fitness test Dubai guide.
EHS medical centres in Dubai
People searching "EHS medical center Dubai" usually mean one of two EHS hospitals in Dubai:
- Al Kuwait Hospital Dubai offers ENT, ophthalmology, general surgery, physiotherapy, nutrition, dermatology, dental (paediatric, orthodontics, surgery), internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, a blood bank and inpatient care. Its customer happiness centre handles health cards, medical reports and bookings, Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm and Friday 7:30 am to 12 pm (EHS facility page).
- Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, EHS's mental health hospital.
For other public care in Dubai, such as most primary health centres, Rashid, Dubai and Latifa hospitals, you need the Dubai Health network, not EHS.
Services EHS provides
- Outpatient specialist clinics and primary care (family medicine, chronic disease, well-baby, antenatal)
- Emergency departments and inpatient care
- Dental services
- Vaccinations and public health programmes
- Residency visa medical fitness screening in the Northern Emirates
- Health card issue and renewal (gives access to subsidised care at government facilities)
- Medical reports, blood bank services and blood donation
- Medicine delivery: self-pickup, home delivery (UAE nationals only) or robotic pharmacy kiosks
- Fitness reports for doctors aged 60 and over, which MOHAP requires for licensing
Fees depend on your health card type and insurance. EHS says inpatient charges are set case by case, based on your card or valid insurance.

- Tap the appointment service and choose the specialty.
- Select the emirate and the health centre or hospital.

Other channels
- Call centre: 800 8877, toll-free, 24/7
- Email: info@ehs.gov.ae
- Website: ehs.gov.ae, with live chat
- In person: customer happiness centres at each hospital
For an inpatient admission you need a referral, a valid Emirates ID and a valid health card or insurance. Without these, bring a passport copy.
Riayati and your EHS medical record
EHS facilities record patient data on Riayati, the federal unified electronic medical record. It works alongside NABIDH in Dubai and Malaffi in Abu Dhabi. If you are treated at an EHS hospital in Sharjah and later at a clinic in Dubai, the systems are designed to share key records. See our NABIDH, Malaffi and Riayati guide for how they connect and what clinics need to do.
Working at EHS
EHS hospitals are licensed under MOHAP, so clinical staff need a MOHAP licence. See our MOHAP license guide. For nursing roles in Dubai and the north, see nurse jobs in Dubai.
