Nurse Jobs in Dubai: Licence, Salary and Where Hospitals Hire
Nurse jobs in Dubai: the DHA licence you need, official places hospitals post vacancies, realistic nurse salary ranges, visa steps and recruitment scams.
To work as a nurse in Dubai you need a Dubai Health Authority (DHA) licence, or eligibility for one, before most hospitals will hire you. The licence takes primary source verification through DataFlow and the DHA exam. Apply through official channels: DHA's Opportunities platform on Sheryan, Dubai Careers for government roles, and hospital groups' own careers portals. Salary surveys put most nurse pay at roughly AED 7,500 to 20,500 a month, depending on grade, specialty and employer. Your employer pays for recruitment and your visa.

The licence comes first
Nursing is a regulated profession in Dubai. Mainland hospitals and clinics hire nurses who hold, or can get, a DHA professional licence. Most employers ask for at least your DHA eligibility letter before they interview.
The usual route:
- Check your title and eligibility. DHA uses the UAE's unified qualification requirements (PQR). Common nursing titles are Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife and Assistant Nurse. Your degree type (BSc or diploma) and experience decide your title. See our DHA licence guide.
- Primary source verification. DataFlow checks your degree, licence and experience with the issuing bodies. Start early: it is often the slowest step. See DataFlow for DHA.
- Pass the DHA exam for your title, unless you qualify for an exemption. See our DHA exam guide for booking and pass marks.
- Get the eligibility letter, then a job offer. The licence is activated once a licensed facility employs you.

Nursing assistant and healthcare assistant jobs
"Nursing assistant" is used loosely in Dubai job ads. Some posts are for a licensed Assistant Nurse (usually a nursing diploma). Others are for unlicensed healthcare assistant or patient care roles. Read the ad. If it says "DHA licence required" or "DHA eligible", it is a licensed post. For example, a recent Mediclinic City Hospital Assistant Nurse post listed a nursing diploma and two years of experience as essential.
Where to find nurse vacancies in Dubai
Apply where the hospitals actually post. These are the safest channels:
| Channel | What you will find | Link |
|---|---|---|
| DHA Opportunities platform (Sheryan) | Vacancies from DHA-licensed government and private facilities. Launched January 2025 partly to cut recruitment scams | Sheryan Opportunities |
| Dubai Health | Rashid, Dubai, Latifa and Hatta hospitals and primary care. Listings run through Dubai Careers | Dubai Health careers |
| Dubai Careers | Dubai Government job portal, including health roles | dubaicareers.ae |
| Mediclinic Middle East | Mediclinic City, Parkview, Welcare and clinics. Applications only through its portal | Mediclinic careers |
| Aster DM Healthcare | Aster hospitals, clinics and pharmacies | Aster careers |
Other large employers include NMC, American Hospital Dubai, King's College Hospital London Dubai, Saudi German Hospital and the private home healthcare sector. Go to the group's official website and use its careers link, rather than a reposted ad.
Nurse salary in Dubai
There is no published public pay scale for private-sector nurses in Dubai. Pay depends on employer, title, specialty, shift pattern and nationality of your training. Use these as rough guides, not offers:
| Source | Role | Figure (AED) |
|---|---|---|
| Michael Page Salary Guide 2023, via The National | Nurse (average) | 10,500 a month |
| Paylab UAE | Nurse (80% of reports) | 7,556 to 20,471 a month |
| Paylab UAE | Health care assistant | 5,623 to 17,234 a month |
Caveats. Paylab's nurse data has fewer than 20 verified responses. Salary sites mix basic pay with total package. Specialty nurses (ICU, OR, NICU, ER, dialysis) and charge nurses usually earn more than ward nurses. Government and large private hospitals often add housing, transport and annual flights.
Read the offer, not just the number
- Basic salary drives your end-of-service gratuity, so a high total with a low basic is worth less over time.
- Housing: is it an allowance or shared accommodation?
- Shift and overtime: 12-hour shifts are common. Ask how overtime is paid.
- Licence costs: who pays for DataFlow, the exam and renewal?
- Health insurance, annual ticket and leave days.
Visa and moving to Dubai
- Your employer applies for your work permit and entry permit. MOHRE says residency cannot be completed from outside the UAE: you enter on the work entry permit.
- You then do the residency medical. Health facility workers are screened for hepatitis and syphilis as well as HIV, TB and leprosy. See our medical fitness test guide.
- Do not work on a visit visa. MOHRE says it does not give the right to work, and it can bring fines.
- Long-serving nurses can benefit from residency perks. In May 2025 Dubai granted golden visas to Dubai Health nurses and midwives with more than 15 years of service, as Gulf News reported.
Red flags: nurse recruitment scams
Fake hospital offers are common. Gulf News has reported forged offer letters in the names of real UAE hospitals. Walk away if:
- You are asked to pay a "visa", "processing" or "placement" fee. MOHRE says employers bear recruitment costs.
- The offer is from a Gmail or Yahoo address, or the only contact is WhatsApp.
- You get an offer without an interview or a licence check.
- The job offer number cannot be verified on MOHRE's website, or no electronic work entry permit follows the signed offer.
- The "hospital" does not appear on its own official careers site or on Sheryan.
- Someone promises a DHA licence without DataFlow or the exam.
If unsure, email the hospital's HR through its official website and ask them to confirm the vacancy reference.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a nurse job in Dubai without a DHA licence?
Rarely for clinical roles. Most employers want a DHA licence or eligibility letter. Some unlicensed healthcare assistant roles exist, but they are not nursing posts.
What is the salary of a nurse in Dubai?
Surveys suggest most nurses earn between about AED 7,500 and AED 20,500 a month. Michael Page's 2023 guide gave an average of AED 10,500. Specialty and senior nurses earn more.
Do nurses need experience to work in Dubai?
It depends on your title and the current PQR. Many employers still ask for two years of experience. Check DHA's requirements for your title before you apply.
Where do Dubai hospitals post nurse vacancies?
On DHA's Opportunities platform in Sheryan, on Dubai Careers for government roles, and on each group's official careers portal, such as Mediclinic and Aster.
Should I pay an agent to get a nursing job in Dubai?
No. MOHRE says employers pay recruitment costs. Requests for upfront fees are a common scam sign.
