Doctor Salary in Dubai: Pay by Grade, Dentists, Pharmacists and Jobs
Doctor salary in Dubai by grade: GP, specialist and consultant ranges, dentist and pharmacist pay, allowances, revenue share, licensing and job sites.
Doctor salaries in Dubai depend mostly on your DHA grade. Recruiter and survey data put GPs at roughly AED 25,000 to 40,000 a month, specialists at AED 32,000 to 70,000 and consultants at AED 60,000 to 120,000 or more. Dentists and pharmacists usually earn less: surveys show about AED 12,500 to 30,500 and AED 11,000 to 27,500 a month. Private clinics often pay a guaranteed basic plus a revenue share. Income is not taxed, but you need a DHA licence before you can practise.

Doctor salary in Dubai by grade
Dubai has no public pay scale for private-sector doctors. The figures below come from a recruitment firm's salary guide, a doctor-placement agency and an anonymous salary survey. Treat them as ranges, not offers.
| Role | Monthly range (AED) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| General practitioner (GP) | 25,000 to 40,000 | Allocation Assist (doctor recruiter), 2026 |
| Doctor, all grades | 14,582 to 38,769 (80% of reports) | Paylab UAE survey |
| Specialist | 32,500 average | Michael Page Salary Guide 2023 |
| Specialist | 40,000 to 70,000 | Allocation Assist, 2026 |
| Consultant | 70,000 average | Michael Page Salary Guide 2023 |
| Consultant | 60,000 to 120,000+ | Allocation Assist, 2026 |
| Surgeon (senior) | 120,000 average | Michael Page Salary Guide 2023 |
Why the ranges are wide:
- Grade. DHA licenses doctors as GP, Specialist or Consultant. Your grade sets your pay band more than years of experience does.
- Specialty. Surgical and procedure-heavy specialties earn more than most medical specialties.
- Training country. Employers often pay more for UK, US, Canadian, Australian or European board certification.
- Employer type. Allocation Assist says private hospitals pay 10 to 25% more base salary. Government roles often offer stronger benefits and set progression.
- Patient base. In private clinics, a busy doctor on revenue share can earn far above the guaranteed basic.
Dentist salary and dentist jobs in Dubai
| Source | Figure |
|---|---|
| Paylab UAE | Dentist: AED 12,672 to 30,686 a month (80% of reports) |
| PayScale | General dentist: average base AED 75,000 a year, with commission reported up to AED 33,000 (46 profiles, data last updated May 2023) |
Dubai has a very large number of private dental clinics, so competition for GP dentist jobs is strong. Many dental posts pay a modest fixed salary plus a percentage of what you bill, or a percentage only. Specialists (orthodontics, endodontics, implantology, paediatric dentistry) usually command better terms. Before signing, ask:
- Is the percentage on gross billing or after lab fees and materials?
- Is there a guaranteed minimum, and for how long?
- Who pays for your DHA licence and malpractice insurance?
- How many chairs and dental assistants will you share?
Pharmacist salary and pharmacist jobs in Dubai
Paylab's UAE survey shows pharmacists mostly earning AED 10,817 to 27,718 a month. Community pharmacy chains employ the most pharmacists. Hospital and clinical pharmacist roles usually pay more and ask for hospital experience. All need a DHA pharmacist licence, which means the DHA pharmacist exam and DataFlow verification.
How pay is structured
A Dubai offer letter usually splits pay into parts. The total matters, but so does the split.
| Component | What to know |
|---|---|
| Basic salary | The contracted base. End-of-service gratuity is calculated on basic, not total |
| Housing allowance | Allocation Assist reports AED 5,000 to 15,000 a month is common for doctors, or housing is provided |
| Transport allowance | Cash allowance or a car |
| Benefits | Health insurance for you and often dependants, an annual return flight, CME allowance, malpractice cover |
| Revenue share or incentive | Common in private clinics and hospitals. Often a guaranteed salary for the first months, then a percentage of collections above a target |
Tips on revenue share deals:
- Get the formula in writing: percentage of what, measured how, paid when.
- Check what happens when insurance claims are rejected. Some clinics deduct rejections from your share.
- Ask how many new patients the clinic generates for you each month. Your share depends on footfall you do not control.
The licensing path
You cannot work as a doctor, dentist or pharmacist in mainland Dubai without a DHA professional licence. The steps:
- Confirm your title and grade under the UAE's unified qualification requirements (PQR). See our DHA licence guide.
- Complete primary source verification through DataFlow. See DataFlow for DHA.
- Pass the DHA exam for your title, or qualify for an exemption. See our DHA exam guide.
- Get your eligibility letter, accept an offer, and the facility activates your licence.
- Do the residency medical for your visa. See our medical fitness test guide.
Working inside Dubai Healthcare City follows a different regulator history. See our DHCC guide.
