What SEHA is
SEHA, short for Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC, was established by Emiri Decree No. 10 of 2007. It manages and operates the public hospitals and clinics of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra (SEHA About us).
Three bodies are easy to mix up:
- DoH (Department of Health Abu Dhabi) is the regulator. It licenses SEHA's hospitals and staff (see our DoH license guide).
- SEHA is the provider. It runs the hospitals and clinics.
- PureHealth is the parent group. SEHA is a PureHealth asset, alongside Daman health insurance, PureLab laboratories and other companies.
"SEHA" means "health" in Arabic, so other countries use similar names. Saudi Arabia's Seha Virtual Hospital and apps like Sehhaty are unrelated. If you searched "SEHA hospital UAE", the UAE one is this Abu Dhabi network.
SEHA hospitals
SEHA states it runs 14 hospitals with more than 3,000 beds. Its hospitals page lists these facilities (some entries, like Al Dhafra Hospitals, group several sites):
| Hospital | Area | Known for |
|---|---|---|
| Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) | Abu Dhabi city | Flagship tertiary and teaching hospital |
| Corniche Hospital | Abu Dhabi city | Referral centre for women's and newborn care |
| Al Rahba Hospital | Abu Dhabi (north) | General hospital |
| Salma Rehabilitation Hospital | Abu Dhabi | Long-term care and rehabilitation |
| Tawam Hospital | Al Ain | Tertiary care |
| Al Ain Hospital | Al Ain | One of the emirate's oldest hospitals, over 50 years |
| Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Medical City (STMC) | Al Ain | Tertiary medical city |
| Al Wagan Hospital | Al Ain region | Community hospital |
| SEHA Kidney Care | Several sites | Dialysis and nephrology |
| Al Dhafra Hospitals | Al Dhafra region | Network of hospitals across the western region |
Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City also sits in the wider PureHealth network. Check the hospital's own website for its current operator if that matters for your insurance.
SEHA Clinics (primary care)
SEHA's clinic arm, SEHA Clinics, lists this network:
- 46 primary healthcare clinics
- 10 Disease Prevention and Screening Centres (DPSC), used for residency visa medical screening
- 4 dental centres
- 2 blood banks
- 2 employee healthcare centres
- 3 mobile clinics, 1 school clinic and 1 vaccination centre
Use a SEHA clinic for family medicine, chronic disease follow-up, vaccinations, antenatal care and referrals to SEHA specialists.
How to book a SEHA appointment
SEHA app
- Download the SEHA app from Google Play, the App Store or Huawei AppGallery.
- Log in with UAE PASS. This works if you have a verified UAE PASS linked to your Emirates ID and a SEHA medical record (you have visited a SEHA facility before).
- Choose the hospital or clinic, specialty and doctor.
- Pick a slot and confirm.
The app also shows lab and radiology results and your upcoming appointments.
Phone and WhatsApp
- SEHA call centre: 80050
- SEHA WhatsApp: +971 2 410 2200
- SEHA Clinics 24/7 patient support: 800450 (the clinics' WhatsApp booking also uses this number)
First visit, no UAE PASS?
If you have never been to a SEHA facility, the app may not find your record. Call 80050 or use the SEHA Clinics booking form, which asks for your name, Emirates ID, mobile number, specialty and preferred time. After your first visit you can use the app.
Visa medical screening at SEHA
Residency medical tests in Abu Dhabi are done at SEHA's Disease Prevention and Screening Centres. SEHA launched a dedicated visa screening app in January 2022 so residents could book a slot instead of queueing (Abu Dhabi Media Office). For Dubai visas the process is different. See our medical fitness test Dubai guide.
Insurance and payment at SEHA
- Thiqa: UAE nationals with Thiqa are treated across SEHA facilities. See our Thiqa guide.
- Daman and other insurers: SEHA accepts many Abu Dhabi plans, but network tiers differ. Check your card's network on your insurer's app before you book. See our Daman guide.
- Medical records: SEHA uploads to Malaffi, Abu Dhabi's health information exchange, so private doctors you see later can view key results (see Malaffi, NABIDH and Riayati).
