Medical Fitness Test in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah: Fees, Centres and Booking (2026)

Visa medical test in Abu Dhabi (SEHA, AED 250 to 500) and Sharjah and the Northern Emirates (EHS, from AED 260): centres, hours, booking and result times.

Guide · 18 Oct 2026 · Access One

Quick answer

In Abu Dhabi, the residency visa medical is done at SEHA's Disease Prevention and Screening Centres (DPSC) or at DoH-approved private centres such as Capital Health. SEHA charges AED 250 for regular screening and AED 350 for fast track. In Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, Emirates Health Services (EHS) runs the test: you book on the EHS website with UAE PASS and pay AED 260 for most employees, plus service centre fees. EHS says results come within 24 hours.

Which authority runs your visa medical

Every expat aged 18 or over needs a medical fitness certificate to get or renew a UAE residence visa. Which centre you use depends on the emirate:

EmirateRegulatorWho runs the screening
Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Al DhafraDepartment of Health (DoH)SEHA's Disease Prevention and Screening Centres, plus DoH-approved private centres
Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, FujairahMinistry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP)Emirates Health Services (EHS) medical fitness centres
DubaiDubai Health Authority (DHA)Dubai Health's Salem centres. See our Dubai medical fitness test guide

The screening itself is set federally by Cabinet Resolution No. 7 of 2008, as amended by Cabinet Resolution No. 75 of 2022. Every applicant is tested for HIV, tuberculosis and leprosy. Workers in five job groups are also tested for hepatitis B and syphilis: domestic workers and nannies, nursery staff, salon and health club workers, and health facility workers.

SEHA fees and result times

SEHA runs the public screening network through its Disease Prevention and Screening Centres. Its official pages list these fees:

SEHA packageFee (AED)Result time

SEHA's fee table online is poorly formatted, so confirm your category's price at the counter. Premium is offered only at some centres, during shorter hours than regular screening.

Private DoH-approved centres

You do not have to use SEHA. Capital Health Screening Centre is approved by DoH and publishes these prices:

How to do the Abu Dhabi medical, step by step

  1. Get your entry permit or start the renewal. Your sponsor or employer handles this through ICP.
  2. Book a slot. SEHA introduced app-based visa screening booking with UAE PASS login, and many centres still accept walk-ins. Private centres such as Capital Health take online bookings.
  3. Bring your documents. Original passport and a copy, or Emirates ID with a passport copy; a copy of the entry permit or current residence visa; and a valid health insurance card if you are renewing.
  4. Pay and get screened. Expect registration, a blood sample and a chest X-ray. Some job groups also get vaccinations.
  5. Wait for the SMS. The result goes to ICP electronically. You can check it on TAMM: see our visa medical result check guide.

Sharjah and Northern Emirates visa medical (EHS)

EHS fees

The official EHS service page sets fees by job category. Service centre fees are added on top.

EHS categoryWho it coversFee (AED)
Category AEmployees, company staff, workers260
Category CBeauty parlour, salon, fitness club and spa workers, and healthcare facility staff310
Category BPrivate drivers, nannies, housekeepers, housemaids, nursery supervisors360

EHS says the report is issued within 24 hours and sent by email and SMS. The UAE government's service card puts the visit itself at about 40 minutes.

Hepatitis B vaccination is mandatory for the higher-risk groups (nannies and housekeepers, nursery supervisors, salon and health club workers, health facility workers), and the vaccine costs extra.

How to book with EHS

  1. Log in to the EHS website with UAE PASS.
  2. Book an appointment at a medical examination centre in your emirate.
  3. Pay the fee online if prompted.
  4. Arrive 20 minutes early and check in at the Customer Happiness Centre.
  5. Bring one passport-style photo and a valid passport or Emirates ID. Renewals need the Emirates ID.
  6. Do the X-ray and blood test. A doctor reviews the results, and the result is sent by email and SMS.

Companies with more than 10 workers need delegate cards to process staff in bulk.

Where to go in each emirate

Since 3 June 2024, EHS has done visa medicals only at its dedicated residency medical examination centres, not at the public health centres in Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, Gulf News reported. The named centres were:

  • Ajman: Mushairef and Al Nuaimiya residence medical examination centres
  • Ras Al Khaimah: Dahan and RAKZ residence medical examination centres
  • Umm Al Quwain: Al Madar residence medical examination centre
  • Fujairah: Al Amal and Mina Tower residence medical examination centres
  • Sharjah: choose from the EHS centres shown when you book. Branches close and move often, and EHS posts closure alerts on the service page.

New options in Sharjah

  • Fahes Medical Examination Service Centre. Sharjah Asset Management, the Sharjah Government's investment arm, opened it in February 2026. It offers a VIP service with results in four hours and a mobile unit that tests at homes or workplaces, according to Gulf News. Fees were not published, so ask before you book.
  • EHS "Residency Renewal from Home". In March 2026 EHS began sending a medical team from its Wiqayati preventive health centres to do renewal screening at home, Gulf News reported. It covers renewals only, not new visas.
