DHA or Dubai Health: which one do you need?
Most wrong calls happen here. Since 2023 Dubai has two separate health bodies, and they do different jobs.
- Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is the regulator. It licenses doctors, nurses, allied health staff and facilities, inspects clinics, runs the health insurance system for Dubai and handles medico-legal cases such as negligence complaints. Call 800 342.
- Dubai Health runs the government hospitals and centres: Rashid Hospital, Dubai Hospital, Latifa Hospital, Hatta Hospital, Al Jalila Children's Hospital, the ambulatory health centres and the medical fitness centres used for visa medicals. Call 800 60 (also on WhatsApp).

How to get a useful answer on the first call
- Have your reference ready. For licensing, that is your DHA unique ID from Sheryan plus the application or transaction number. For a complaint, the complaint number. Without it, the agent can only give general answers.
- Call early in the week, early in the day. The phone line is 24/7, but back-office teams that can actually change an application work office hours (Monday to Thursday until 3:30 pm, Friday until noon).
- Ask for a ticket number. If the agent raises a case, write the number down. Use it in any follow-up email to info@dha.gov.ae.
- Put it in writing if it matters. For anything that affects a job offer or visa deadline, follow the call with an email that states your ID, the issue, what you were told and the ticket number.
- Use the portal before the phone. Many licensing questions (application status, missing documents, exam booking) are answered faster inside Sheryan than on the phone.
Visiting the DHA head office
The headquarters is in Al Jaddaf, on Sheikh Ahmed Square near the Dubai Creek. Most services are online, so a visit is rarely needed and some counters only serve people with an appointment. Check opening hours on the contact page before you go, and remember it is closed on Saturday and Sunday. If you were asked to come in person, bring your Emirates ID or passport and printed copies of the documents in your application.
