Physio Google Ads Calls Not Converting? How to Fix It
Physio calls from Google Ads in Dubai not turning into bookings? Check call quality, insurance answers, missed calls and the script, then track booked sessions.
Access One is the healthcare-only Google Ads agency in Dubai and a Google Partner. This is the order we check a UAE physiotherapy account in when this problem comes up. By Youssef Hajri, Founder.
When physio calls from Google Ads do not turn into bookings, check three things in order. First, whether they are real calls: in the UAE, Google counts call taps, not connected calls, so some "calls" never rang. Second, what happens on the call: the insurance question, the approval step and the price per session are where most physio calls end. Third, whether anyone calls back missed calls. Fix the call handling, then import booked first assessments so Google bids for callers who book.

Quick diagnosis checklist
Pull last month's call log next to Google's call conversions and work through these.
- Google's call conversions are compared with your real phone log for the same dates.
- Missed calls during ad hours are counted and called back the same day.
- Reception can say which insurers you accept and how approval works, in one sentence.
- Reception gives a per-session and a package price for self-pay patients.
- Every call ends with an offered first-assessment slot.
- Ads only run when the phone is staffed.
- Call reporting is off at account level, so your own number shows.
- Booked first assessments are imported back into Google Ads.

The likely causes, ranked
- Counting taps as calls. Google forwarding numbers are not available in the UAE, so "Clicks on call ads and assets" counts taps, using Google's estimate that a call followed. Accidental taps inflate it. Our field note on zero-second calls explains the pattern.
- Missed calls. Pain patients call the next clinic on the list if nobody answers.
- Insurance confusion. The basic Dubai plan covers up to 6 physio sessions a year, with 20% co-insurance and the insurer's prior approval (EBP table). A vague answer about approval ends the call.
- Price per session without a plan. Self-pay callers hear a session price and multiply it. Without an explanation of the plan, it sounds expensive.
- No close. Calls that end with "we will get back to you" rarely book.
How to fix it, step by step
1. Check the calls are real
- Under Admin > Account settings > Call reporting, turn call reporting off so call assets show your own number (Google on call reporting).
- Compare Google's call conversions with your phone system's log by day. A large gap means accidental taps or tracking errors.
- Track taps on your website number separately (Google's guide).
2. Stop missing calls
Run call-led ads only when the desk is staffed (Campaigns > Ad schedule, steps). Log every missed call and call back the same day. If calls peak at lunch, cover lunch.
3. Write the insurance answer
One clear script: "Yes, we work with daman. Your plan usually needs approval first. We send the request after your first assessment and tell you when it is approved." Adjust to what is true for each insurer.
4. Sell the plan, not the session
For self-pay callers: what the first assessment includes, the usual number of sessions for their problem (after assessment), session and package prices. Then offer two slots.
5. Close every call
Every call ends with an offered appointment or a promised callback at a set time. Log the outcome next to the source.
6. Feed bookings back to Google
In Goals > Conversions > Summary, set call taps to secondary under Conversion action optimization (primary and secondary). Import booked first assessments with offline conversion import. For calls with no click ID, call tracking software that passes the click ID back to Google Ads can close the gap.
UAE and DHA specifics
- Self-referral is allowed; payment may not be. The DHA physiotherapy standard lets physiotherapists see self-referred patients, but insurers may require approval or a referral before paying. Say this early.
- Call recording. If you record calls, tell callers and treat recordings as health data under your clinic's privacy policy.
- Languages. If your ads run in Arabic, someone who speaks Arabic must answer those calls.
- No promises on the phone either. DHA rules on claims apply to what staff say in marketing too: no "you will be pain-free in two sessions".

Fix it yourself, or have it fixed
Fixing call conversion takes a call log matched to Google data, staffed hours, an insurance and price script, a closing habit and offline imports. It is mostly front-desk work, guided by the data.
Fix it yourself
- Match Google call data to your phone log
- Fix staffing and the ad schedule
- Train reception on insurance, price and closing

Frequently asked questions
Why does Google show more calls than my phone received?
In the UAE, Google counts taps on the call button, not connected calls. Some taps are accidental or abandoned. Compare with your phone log and judge by booked assessments.
Can Google Ads tell me how long a call lasted in the UAE?
No. Call duration needs Google forwarding numbers, which are not available in the UAE. Use your phone system or call tracking software.
Should I use call-only ads for physio?
Only when the desk is fully staffed. Many physio patients want to read about the clinic first, so a landing page with a call button often books better.
What should reception say when a caller asks about insurance?
Which insurers you accept, whether approval is needed, who handles it and how long it usually takes, then offer a first-assessment slot.
