How much should a clinic spend on Google Ads?

Work out a clinic Google Ads budget from bookings, CPC, conversion rate and patient value. Step-by-step maths, UAE worked examples and Google's budget rules.

Quick answer

Google Ads has no minimum spend, so a clinic's budget should be worked backwards from the number of bookings it wants and what each booking costs. Monthly budget = target bookings × (cost per click ÷ conversion rate ÷ booking rate). Google caps monthly charges at 30.4 times your average daily budget, so divide the monthly figure by 30.4 to get the daily setting. Google recommends judging Target CPA bidding over 30 days with at least 30 conversions, so aim for a budget that can buy that volume per campaign.

Work out your budget in 6 steps

  1. Set a booking target. Decide how many new patients a month you want from Google, per treatment. "20 new dental implant consultations" is a target. "More patients" is not.
  2. Find your cost per click. In Google Ads, open Tools > Planning > Keyword Planner. Enter the keywords you would really bid on, in English and Arabic, and set the location to the area you serve. Use the top-of-page bid range as your starting CPC. Our cost-per-click guide explains how the auction sets the final price.
  3. Estimate your conversion rate. This is the share of clicks that become an enquiry (call, form or WhatsApp). LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks (US data, updated June 2026) show 10.67% for dentists, 12.43% for physicians and surgeons, and 10.35% for beauty and personal care. Use these only until you have your own numbers.
  4. Know your booking rate. Ask your front desk what share of enquiries actually book. Many clinics have never measured it. Start tracking it this week.
  5. Do the maths. Cost per booking = CPC ÷ conversion rate ÷ booking rate. Monthly budget = cost per booking × target bookings.
  6. Set the daily budget. Divide the monthly budget by 30.4. Google's average daily budget rules allow up to 2× the daily amount on busy days, but keep the month within 30.4× that figure.

Worked examples (illustrative numbers, not quotes)

These use made-up but realistic inputs to show the method. Replace every number with your own Keyword Planner and front-desk data.

Home healthcare (nursing at home)AED 109%30%AED 37012 clientsAED 4,444AED 146

Example check for the dental row: 15 ÷ 0.08 ÷ 0.35 = AED 536 per booking. 536 × 15 = AED 8,036 a month. 8,036 ÷ 30.4 = AED 264 a day.

Check the budget against patient value

A budget is only "right" if each booking earns more than it costs. Work out your break-even cost per booking: average first-year revenue from a new patient × your profit margin. If an implant patient brings AED 12,000 at a 40% margin, you can afford up to AED 4,800 per booking before you lose money. The AED 536 in the example leaves plenty of room. A AED 150 consultation with no follow-up treatment does not.

This is also why one clinic can sensibly spend five times more than its neighbour. Spend follows value, not clinic size.

The minimum that makes sense

Google has no minimum. The practical floor is data. Google advises judging Target CPA bidding over 30 days with at least 30 conversions. A campaign that gets 5 conversions a month will learn slowly and swing wildly.

  • Too little to split: if your budget only buys around 30 enquiries a month, run one campaign for your highest-value treatment. Do not spread it across eight services.
  • Watch "Limited by budget": this status means your ads stopped showing for part of the day. Either raise the budget or narrow keywords and locations.
  • Do not count clicks as success. Without conversion tracking for calls, forms and WhatsApp, you cannot tell whether AED 5,000 or AED 50,000 is the right number.

Common budget mistakes in UAE clinics

  1. Copying a competitor's number. Their CPC, conversion rate and patient value are different from yours.
  2. Targeting the whole UAE. A Jumeirah clinic paying for clicks from Al Ain wastes budget. Target the radius patients will travel.
  3. Running ads when nobody answers. Use ad scheduling so calls arrive when the front desk is staffed, or make sure WhatsApp is answered fast.
  4. Changing the budget every few days. Big swings reset learning. Change by 15–20% at a time and wait a week.
  5. Forgetting Arabic searches. Many UAE patients search in Arabic. Include those keywords in your estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Is AED 3,000 a month enough for Google Ads?

It can be for one treatment in one area if clicks are cheap. At AED 10 a click that buys about 300 clicks. At a 10% enquiry rate that is about 30 enquiries. Run the maths with your own CPC before deciding.

Should my agency fee come out of the ad budget?

Keep them separate. Your ad budget is what you pay Google for clicks. Management fees are a separate cost. Mixing them hides your real cost per booking. See how Google Ads agency pricing works in Dubai.

Can Google spend more than my daily budget?

Yes, up to 2× on a single day. Across a month, Google keeps charges within 30.4× your average daily budget.

When should I increase my budget?

When your cost per booking is well below break-even and the campaign shows "Limited by budget". Raise it in steps of 15–20% and check cost per booking after each step. Read is Google Ads worth it for a clinic? for the full profit check.

How long before I know the budget is right?
