Why Are My Beauty Salon Google Ads So Expensive?

Salon Google Ads in Dubai too expensive? Advertise high-value services only, tighten the radius, cut course searches and use remarketing. Step-by-step fixes.

Guide · 28 Oct 2026 · Access One

Access One is the healthcare-only Google Ads agency in Dubai and a Google Partner. This is the order we check a UAE beauty salon account in when this problem comes up. By Youssef Hajri, Founder.

Quick answer

Salon Google Ads feel expensive because a click can cost more than a haircut is worth. LocaliQ's 2026 benchmark for beauty and personal care is $4.62 per click and $39.25 per lead (mostly US accounts). The fix is to advertise only high-value services (bridal, keratin, colour correction, lash sets), target a tight radius, block course, job and product searches, run ads in bookable hours, and use the cheaper channels salons can use and clinics cannot: remarketing and your Google Business Profile.

Quick diagnosis checklist

Check whether you are paying for clicks that could never pay back.

Salon cost check8 checks
  • You know the value of a booking for each service you advertise.
  • Ads run only for services worth more than a few clicks.
  • The radius is a realistic trip for a salon visit.
  • Negatives cover course, training, academy, jobs, products and "for sale".
  • Location option is Presence.
  • Ads run in hours when bookings can be made or answered.
  • Remarketing lists are set up for past visitors and clients.
  • Your Google Business Profile is complete and gets steady reviews.

Diagnostic flowchart

The likely causes, ranked

  1. Advertising low-value services. Paying several dirhams per click for a service worth less than a few clicks rarely pays back.
  2. Too wide an area. People rarely cross the city for a blow-dry. Clicks from far away seldom book.
  3. Course, job and product searches. "Lash extension course Dubai", "nail technician jobs" and "keratin products" match loose keywords.
  4. Weak ads and pages. Ad Rank includes ad quality and landing page experience (Google on Ad Rank). A home page with no prices costs more per click.
  5. Ignoring cheaper channels. Salons can remarket and can rank on Maps for free; many rely on Search clicks alone.

How to fix it, step by step

1. Choose what to advertise

List services by booking value. Advertise the ones where one booking easily covers the clicks it takes: bridal packages, keratin and hair treatments, colour correction, full lash sets, nail packages. Let Google Maps and repeat clients bring haircuts and walk-ins.

2. Tighten the area

Set a small radius under Campaigns > Locations (radius targeting) and choose Presence in Settings > Locations > Location options (advanced location options). Widen only for services people travel for, such as bridal.

3. Add negatives

Under Tools > Shared library > Exclusion lists (Google's guide): course, courses, training, academy, certificate, jobs, salary, "for sale", "salon for rent", products, kit, wholesale, diy, "at home" (unless you offer home service). Review search terms weekly (search terms report).

4. Match hours

Under Campaigns > Ad schedule (Google's steps), run ads when someone can reply on WhatsApp or the phone.

5. Raise quality

One ad group and one page per service: price or "from" price, duration, photos of real work, stylist names, WhatsApp button. Specific ads ("Keratin Treatment in JLT, Prices Online") lift click-through and lower cost per click.

6. Use the cheaper channels

  • Remarketing to site visitors and past clients, which standard beauty services can usually use.
  • A complete Google Business Profile with steady reviews. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence (Google's guide).
  • Rebooking at the chair, so paid clicks bring clients who return without another click.

7. Track bookings

Track WhatsApp, calls and booking-app clicks, then import bookings. See salon WhatsApp tracking.

UAE specifics for salons

  • Benchmarks are US-heavy. LocaliQ's beauty and personal care figures (2026 benchmarks) are mostly US accounts. Use them to sense-check your own numbers, not as Dubai prices.
  • Do not advertise what a salon cannot offer. DHA has banned laser systems in beauty parlours (Gulf News), and injectables belong in licensed medical facilities. Ads for them bring policy and legal risk, and the clicks are among the most contested.
  • Area names matter. Dubai clients often search with the neighbourhood: "nail salon JLT", "bridal makeup Al Barsha". Those searches are cheaper and closer to booking than city-wide terms.
  • Business name rules. Use your real salon name on your Business Profile; adding keywords to it breaks Google's guidelines.

Fix it yourself, or have it fixed

Lowering salon ad costs takes a service-by-service value check, a tighter area, negative lists, service pages, remarketing and a Business Profile that earns reviews. A few hours to set up, then a weekly check.

Fix it yourself

  • Pick services worth advertising

Frequently asked questions

What does a salon click cost in Dubai?

There is no reliable public UAE figure. LocaliQ's 2026 benchmark for beauty and personal care is $4.62 per click, mostly from US accounts. Track your own cost per booking by service.

Is Google Ads worth it for a small salon?

For high-value services, often yes. For haircuts and walk-ins, a strong Google Business Profile and rebooking usually do better than paid clicks.

Can salons use remarketing on Google?

Usually yes. Standard beauty services are not a health category. Treatments that are medical, such as injectables, fall under health rules.

Why do I get clicks from beauty course students?

Loose keywords match course searches. Add course, training, academy and certificate as negatives.
