Google Ads for Clinics in Ras Al Khaimah: Rules, Competition and a Launch Plan

Google Ads for clinics in Ras Al Khaimah: MOHAP ad licences, 258 private facilities, Arabic-first search, tourist patients, budget maths and a launch plan.

Guide · 18 Oct 2026 · Access One

Quick answer

Ras Al Khaimah clinics are licensed by MOHAP, and MOHAP licenses their health advertising. RAK is a smaller market of about 0.4 million people, 32% of them UAE citizens (RAK Media Office, 2025), so Arabic campaigns matter more here than in Dubai or Sharjah. Competition is countable: the RAK Statistics Centre records 258 private health facilities in 2024, including 108 medical centres and 16 general dental clinics. Add 1.28 million hotel guests a year, and the winning setup is Arabic and English Search campaigns for residents, plus separate campaigns for visitors' urgent needs.

Who licenses and approves health ads in RAK

RAK has no health authority of its own. The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) licenses private facilities and professionals (see our MOHAP licence guide), and it licenses healthcare advertising:

  • Social media advertising licence: AED 100 application, then AED 1,000 a month or AED 3,000 a year, issued in 1 to 3 working days. One official account per institution. A second account freezes all of them.
  • Institution advertisement licence for print, audio and audiovisual ads: AED 100 application, plus a fee that depends on your facility category and ad type.

Content follows the federal rules: Cabinet Resolution No. 7 of 2007 and Ministerial Resolution No. 430 of 2007 (CMS summary). That means no guaranteed results, no "safe" or "no side effects", no misleading comparisons and no pressure lines (Al Tamimi). Public hospitals and primary care belong to Emirates Health Services, which is a provider, not a regulator.

Your competitors, by type (2024)

Dental centres may also sit inside the "medical centre" count, so treat these as the yearbook's classification, not a full list of everyone who offers a service. Still, it is rare to know your market this precisely. A dental clinic in RAK is bidding against a short, known list of rivals.

Arabic first, English always

With nearly a third of residents being UAE citizens, and the largest group of hotel guests coming from GCC countries, RAK leans more Arabic than the southern emirates. Practical steps:

  1. Build Arabic campaigns as equals, not translations. Separate ad groups with Arabic headlines, Arabic sitelinks and Arabic landing pages with right-to-left layout.
  2. Research Arabic terms in Keyword Planner with the location set to Ras Al Khaimah. Compare forms such as "عيادة اسنان رأس الخيمة" and "دكتور اسنان راس الخيمة". People spell the emirate's name several ways, with and without the hamza, and as "RAK" in English.
  3. Remember the September 2026 change. Google removed language targeting from Search. Language consistency across ad and page now does the job.
  4. Staff Arabic-speaking reception on the hours your Arabic ads run. A great ad and an English-only voicemail lose the patient.

Where RAK patients come from

  • Ras Al Khaimah city, on both sides of the creek: the old town and Al Nakheel. This is the core radius for most clinics.
  • Coastal and inland towns such as Al Jazirah Al Hamra, Digdaga and Khatt (u.ae). Add them by name if you serve them, and test whether the drive kills conversion.
  • Visitors. 55 hotels hosted 1.28 million guests in 2024. Under Google's "Presence" setting, a tourist physically in RAK counts as present. Useful for urgent care, dental emergencies, doctor-on-call and home visits to hotels. Run visitor campaigns separately, in English and Arabic, with hours that match.
  • Elective patients from elsewhere. If you sell dental or aesthetic packages to people outside RAK, use a separate campaign with "Presence or interest" and judge it on bookings. Keep your core campaign on "Presence" (Google Ads Help).

Insurance: the 2025 change

Since 1 January 2025, private sector employers in RAK and the other Northern Emirates must insure their staff for residency. MOHRE's basic package costs AED 320 a year, through the DubaiCare Network. More RAK workers now search by insurer. If you accept their plans, say so in the ad. GP, dental and physio clinics benefit most.

Budget logic

Fewer rivals can mean lower CPCs than in Dubai for the same treatment. Smaller population also means fewer searches. Check both in Keyword Planner, then apply the formula from our budget guide: cost per booking = CPC ÷ enquiry rate ÷ booking rate.

Illustrative example (not a quote): a dental clinic with an AED 8 CPC, 9% enquiry rate and 35% booking rate pays about AED 254 per booking. Fifteen bookings a month needs about AED 3,800, or AED 125 a day under Google's 30.4-day billing rule.

For reference only, LocaliQ's 2026 US benchmarks show a 10.67% average enquiry rate for dentists. If your budget runs out before noon, you are "Limited by budget": narrow the keywords before you raise spend.

Step-by-step launch plan

  1. Get the MOHAP ad licence for your channels.
  2. Set up your Google Business Profile in Arabic and English, with the right area (Al Nakheel, old town, Al Hamra and so on), hours, WhatsApp and photos.
  3. Build Arabic and English landing pages per service, showing insurance, prices or "from" prices, and map and parking.
  4. Install tracking for calls, WhatsApp and forms, and import bookings (how).
  5. Launch resident campaigns: Search, "Presence", a city radius, Arabic and English ad groups.
  6. Check Auction Insights after two weeks. With 16 general dental clinics in the emirate, you will recognise every name. Find the gaps in their hours and services.
  7. Add a visitor campaign if you offer urgent or walk-in care, with ads running when hotels need you.
  8. Scale on cost per booking, moving to Target CPA once you have 30 conversions in 30 days.

Frequently asked questions

Which authority approves medical ads in Ras Al Khaimah?

MOHAP. It licenses private health facilities in RAK and issues healthcare advertisement licences for social media and for print, audio and audiovisual ads.

How many private clinics are there in Ras Al Khaimah?

The RAK Statistics Centre counts 258 private health facilities in 2024, including 108 medical centres, 58 rehabilitation centres, 16 general dental clinics, 13 specialty clinics and 12 general clinics.

Should RAK clinics advertise in Arabic?

Yes. UAE citizens make up 32% of RAK residents, and GCC visitors are the largest group of hotel guests. Run Arabic ad groups with Arabic landing pages alongside English ones.

Can I target tourists in RAK with Google Ads?

Yes. Visitors who are physically in RAK count under the Presence setting. Run a separate campaign for urgent and walk-in services so tourist clicks don't distort your resident data.

Is Google Ads cheaper in RAK than in Dubai?

Often, because fewer clinics bid. But search volume is also lower. Check CPCs and volumes in Keyword Planner with the location set to Ras Al Khaimah.
