Why are my Google Ads not showing?
Google Ads not showing? Use Ad preview and diagnosis, then check billing, verification, disapprovals, budget, schedule, keyword status and Ad Rank.
Google Ads stop showing for a short list of reasons: the account is paused for billing or verification, the ad or keyword is disapproved or paused, your targeting excludes the person searching, your budget runs out early, or your Ad Rank is too low. Don't test by googling yourself. Use Tools > Troubleshooting > Ad preview and diagnosis, which shows the exact reason without wasting impressions.

First: stop searching for your own ad
Owners often search "dentist Jumeirah" ten times a day and panic when the ad isn't there. Google warns that repeated self-searches without clicks can lower your CTR, and Google may stop showing you the ad. Your budget may also be spent by the time you look, or you may sit outside your own radius.
Use the Ad preview and diagnosis tool instead. Find it under Tools > Troubleshooting > Ad preview and diagnosis. Set location to Dubai (or your area), language and device, then type the search. It shows whether your ad would appear, and if not, why.
Checklist: work down in this order
1. Account level
- Payment declined. Ads can stop until the payment goes through. Check the Billing summary for the reason and add a backup payment method. UAE banks sometimes block foreign recurring charges, so call your bank.
- Advertiser verification. If you missed a verification deadline, Google pauses the account until you complete it. Review can take up to 5 business days. Start as soon as you get the notice.
- Suspension. A red banner at the top of the account means suspension. Ads won't serve until it is resolved. Read the reason before you appeal.
2. Campaign level
- Campaign status is Paused, Ended, or has an end date in the past.
- "Limited by budget". Your daily budget runs out before the day ends. Ads may show in the morning and vanish by lunchtime. Raise the budget, narrow the keywords or cut the schedule. See Google's fixes.
- Ad schedule. If you set Sunday to Thursday, 9am to 6pm, your ad won't show on a Saturday evening. The UAE weekend moved to Saturday and Sunday in 2022, so check old schedules.
- Location. If you target a 3 km radius around your clinic, you won't see the ad from home in Mirdif.
- Language. Target English and Arabic in the UAE. Add others your staff speak.
- Bid strategy "Learning". Delivery can swing for a while after a bid strategy change. Google says calibration takes typically one to two conversion cycles.
3. Ad level
Open Ads and read the Status column.
| Status | Meaning | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Under review | Not checked yet | Wait. Google says most ads are reviewed in about a day. Don't keep editing, as each edit restarts review. |
| Disapproved | Breaks a policy | Hover for the policy, fix the ad or landing page, then appeal |
| Eligible (limited) | Runs, with limits | Normal for many healthcare ads. Check which policy applies. |
| Paused | Switched off | Enable it |
Clinic ads are often disapproved for prescription drug names. Under Google's Healthcare and medicines policy, promoting prescription drugs isn't allowed in the UAE. That includes brand names of prescription injectables in the ad, keywords or landing page. Rewrite as "anti-wrinkle treatment consultation" and remove the brand from the page.
4. Keyword level
Go to Search keywords and hover over each keyword status.
- Low search volume. Too few people search it. "Pediatric dentist open Friday Al Barsha South" is too narrow. Add broader phrase-match versions.
- Rarely shown due to low Quality Score. The ad and page don't match the keyword well. See Quality Score explained.
- Below first page bid estimate. Your bid is too low for the competition. See what clicks cost.
- Paused due to low activity. Google auto-pauses keywords with zero impressions in 13 months.
- Disapproved. Usually a policy issue with the keyword or its final URL.
- Check your negative keywords too. A negative "cheap" won't hurt, but a negative "dental" in a shared list will block everything.
5. Ad Rank is too low
Your ad can be eligible and still lose the auction. Ad Rank depends on your bid, ad quality and expected impact of assets. In Dubai, dental and aesthetic searches are crowded. Improve relevance first: one treatment per ad group, the treatment in headlines, a dedicated landing page. Then add sitelink, call and location assets. Raise bids only after that.
6. Reporting delay
New ads and changes can take a while to show data. Google says reporting can lag by about three hours. Check the date range in the top right too.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my ad say "Eligible" but get no impressions?
Eligible means it can show, not that it wins. Check keyword statuses for low search volume, the budget status, your schedule and location settings, then run Ad preview and diagnosis for a real search.
Why are my Google Ads not showing on mobile?
Check for a mobile bid adjustment of -100%, a mobile-only budget running out early, or ads served to people outside your radius. Test with Ad preview and diagnosis set to mobile.
How long does Google take to approve ads?
Google says most ads are reviewed in about a day, but complex reviews take longer. Check the status after two full business days, and contact support if it has been under review for more than a week. Every edit restarts the review.
Why did my competitor's ad show and mine didn't?
They may have a higher Ad Rank, a bigger budget that lasts all day, or wider targeting. Use Auction insights to see how often you overlap and who outranks you.
My ads were showing yesterday. What changed?
