How do I fill empty salon appointments on quiet weekdays?
Fill quiet weekday salon slots: rebooking, waitlists, weekday offers, Google Business Profile offer posts and scheduled Google Ads, with VAT and permit rules.
Fill quiet weekdays from your own client list first: rebook every client at the chair, keep a waitlist for short-notice slots, and message opted-in clients when a gap opens. Then make the open slots visible where new clients look: live availability in your online booking, a Google Business Profile offer post with dates and times, and Google or Instagram ads scheduled only for the days you need. Sell a weekday reason to come (an express menu, a stylist's clinic day, a bundle), not just a discount, and keep advertised prices VAT-inclusive.

Step 1: Find the real gaps
Pull 8 weeks of bookings from your salon software. For each weekday, split the day into morning, afternoon and evening and work out how many chair-hours were booked against how many were available. Most salons find two or three specific gaps, for example Monday and Tuesday mornings, not "weekdays" in general. Target those slots, nothing more.
Do the maths before you spend. If one chair costs you AED 300 a day in rent, wages and overheads, every empty hour on a 10-hour day burns about AED 30 before product. Filling 20 dead chair-hours a week at an average ticket of AED 150 adds AED 3,000 of weekly revenue.
Step 2: Fill from clients you already have
- Rebook at the chair. Offer the next appointment before the client pays, and offer the quiet slots first: "I have Tuesday at 10 or Saturday at 4." Many people with flexible schedules will take the weekday.
- Run a short-notice waitlist. Ask clients if they want a message when an earlier slot opens. Keep a list of people who work shifts, work from home, or live nearby. When a cancellation lands, message the list first.
- Message lapsed clients on your quiet days. Every week, contact clients with no visit in 60 to 90 days who have agreed to hear from you. Give a reason (new colourist, seasonal treatment), and offer specific open slots, not "book anytime".
- Use reminders. Automated reminders two days and two hours before cut no-shows, which are the most expensive empty slots because you cannot refill them.
- Reward weekday referrals. A credit for both the client and the friend when the friend books a weekday slot.
Step 3: Give people a weekday reason, not just a discount
- An express menu. 30-minute blow-dry, gel removal and refresh, brow tidy. Easy to fit into a lunch break near offices.
- A clinic day. "Colour consultation Tuesdays" or "bridal trial Wednesdays" with a named senior stylist.
- Bundles. Add a treatment to a weekday cut at a set price. You protect your headline price and sell more per visit.
- Junior stylist slots. Lower prices with a supervised junior on quiet mornings. This trains your team and fills the book.
- Local partnerships. Residential towers, gyms and offices within a short drive. Agree a weekday offer for their residents or staff.
If you do discount, the advertised price must include VAT. Under Article 38 of the UAE VAT law, prices for taxable supplies are advertised VAT-inclusive, and the fine is AED 5,000 per violation (Mondaq). Check with Dubai Economy and Tourism whether your promotion needs a commercial permit.
Step 4: Show the open slots where new clients look
- Live online booking. If your booking page shows only "call us", you lose people browsing at night. Show real availability, and link it from your website, Instagram bio and Google Business Profile.
- Google Business Profile offer posts. An offer post needs a title plus start and end dates and times, and gets a "View offer" button. You can add a coupon code, terms and a link. Posts can be scheduled or set to repeat, so set a weekly one for your quiet days.
- Instagram stories with real times. "Two slots left tomorrow, 11:00 and 13:30, with Sara." Specific beats generic.
- Booking marketplaces for your quiet hours only, if their commission is lower than the cost of an empty chair.
Step 5: Schedule paid ads for the days you need
- Ad schedule. In Google Ads you can choose the days and hours a campaign runs, up to 6 schedules per day per campaign, in your account's time zone (Google Ads Help). Run a weekday-offer campaign the evening before and the morning of each quiet day.
- Bid adjustments and Smart Bidding. Manual ad schedule bid adjustments range from -90% to +900%, but Smart Bidding strategies ignore them. Smart Bidding does respect the schedule itself (about bid adjustments). To push spend into quiet days with Smart Bidding, use a separate campaign with its own schedule and budget.
- Promote high-value services only. Paid clicks rarely pay back on a AED 100 blow-dry. They can on keratin, colour correction or lash sets. LocaliQ's 2026 benchmark for beauty and personal care is $4.62 per click and $39.25 per lead, mostly from US accounts (LocaliQ).
- Track bookings, not clicks. Set up conversion tracking for bookings, calls and WhatsApp taps. See WhatsApp leads from Google Ads.
Step 6: Measure every week
| Metric | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Utilisation by day and time slot | Shows whether the gaps are shrinking |
| Rebooking rate | Share of clients leaving with the next visit booked |
| Weekday bookings by source | Waitlist, rebooking, Google, Instagram, marketplace |
| Average ticket on weekdays | Checks that offers are not just giving away margin |
| Cost per weekday booking | For each paid channel |

Frequently asked questions
Should I discount weekday appointments?
Try reasons to come first: an express menu, a named stylist's clinic day or a bundle. If you discount, keep it to specific slots, show VAT-inclusive prices, and watch your weekday average ticket.
Can I run Google Ads only on Mondays and Tuesdays?
Yes. Set an ad schedule on the campaign. Schedules use your account time zone, and you can set up to 6 per day per campaign.
Why do my Google Ads bid adjustments for weekdays not work?
Smart Bidding strategies such as Maximize conversions ignore ad schedule bid adjustments. They still respect the schedule, so use a separate weekday campaign with its own budget.
How do I tell clients about last-minute openings without spamming them?
Keep a waitlist of clients who asked to hear about openings, and message only them with specific times. Everyone else gets your regular reminders.
