How do I get more gynaecology and maternity patients?
How UAE gynae and maternity clinics get more patients: doctor pages, packages, Google Maps, which women's health ads Google bans in the UAE, and DHA rules.
Lead with your doctors, your maternity packages and your insurance list, because women choose a gynaecologist first and a clinic second. Win Google Maps and Search for "gynaecologist near me", "female gynaecologist" and "pregnancy follow-up", then run Google Search ads on general gynaecology and antenatal care. Keep contraception, STI testing and fertility out of your UAE ads: Google lists the UAE among countries where birth control, fertility and STI products and services cannot be advertised.

Know what you can and cannot advertise first
| Service | Google Ads in the UAE | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| General gynaecology consultations, pelvic pain, PCOS, fibroids, smear tests | Generally eligible as healthcare ads | Advertise with Search ads, no remarketing |
| Pregnancy follow-up, antenatal care, delivery packages | Generally eligible | Advertise; keep claims factual |
| Contraception, IUD fitting, birth control pills | Not allowed: Google's birth control, fertility and STI policy lists the UAE | Cover on your website and in consultations, not in ads |
| STI testing | Not allowed in the UAE under the same policy | Organic content only |
| Fertility testing and treatment | Not allowed in the UAE | See getting more IVF patients |
| Termination of pregnancy | Google restricts abortion ads, and UAE health advertising rules prohibit abortion ads (CMS legal guide) | Do not advertise |
"Generally eligible" still means each ad, keyword and landing page is reviewed. A landing page that lists contraception prominently can pull an otherwise clean pregnancy ad into the restricted policy, so give advertised services their own focused pages.
The 8-step plan
- Put your doctors at the centre. One page per gynaecologist with licensed title, training, languages, special interests (high-risk pregnancy, laparoscopy, menopause) and the hospital where she or he delivers. Many women in the UAE search specifically for a "female gynaecologist", so say clearly who is female and when they are available.
- Publish maternity packages with clear terms. What is included (visits, scans, blood tests, delivery type, room, newborn checks), what is not, and the price range. Vague packages create phone calls that never convert.
- Explain insurance plainly. Under Dubai's basic Essential Benefits Plan, antenatal care includes 8 visits and 3 ultrasound scans with prior approval and 10% coinsurance, and delivery is capped at AED 10,000 per normal delivery (EBP table of benefits; confirm insurers' current tables). Enhanced plans differ and some have maternity waiting periods. List the networks you accept. See health insurance in Dubai.
- Win Google Maps. Category "Gynecologist" or "Obstetrician-gynecologist", accurate hours, each doctor listed, photos of consultation and scan rooms. Google ranks on relevance, distance and prominence. Ask happy patients for reviews; many prefer initials only, which is fine.
- Run Google Search ads on eligible, high-intent searches. "Gynaecologist + area", "female gynaecologist Dubai", "pregnancy doctor", "antenatal care + area", "fibroid treatment", "PCOS doctor" and doctor names. Use call and location assets. Setup basics: how to start Google Ads for a clinic.
- Write ads to the reader, not about her. "Book a gynaecologist in Al Barsha today" works. "Worried about irregular periods?" implies you know her condition. Meta's ad rules on personal attributes prohibit that wording, and it reads badly anywhere.
- Make contact discreet and fast. A female coordinator on WhatsApp, reply within 5 minutes in working hours, and no diagnosis wording in SMS reminders unless the patient agrees. See how to get more WhatsApp leads.
- Keep mothers after delivery. Postnatal checks, then refer into your paediatric service if you have one. See how to get more paediatric patients.
Google targeting limits in women's health
Google's health in personalised advertising policy names pregnancy and infertility treatments, sexual health and intimate body parts among sensitive health topics. For those ads you cannot use remarketing lists, Customer Match or lookalike audiences. Target with keywords, location and schedule. Also keep prescription drug names off ads and landing pages under the Healthcare and medicines policy.
UAE advertising rules
- Dubai content rules. The DHA medical advertising standard bans unverified claims, requires risk information, and requires documented written consent for any patient image or testimonial. Words like "best", "safest", "100%" and "no side effects" are banned (Khaleej Times, September 2026).
- Prices. Package prices are allowed if accurate and with conditions stated. Time-limited offers you cannot honour are not.
- MOHAP licence. Your official social accounts must show your MOHAP medical advertisement licence number. MOHAP's social media advertising licence costs AED 100 to apply plus AED 1,000 a month or AED 3,000 a year.
- Influencers. A mum-influencer posting from your clinic needs medical director approval of the content and must disclose payment. Any paid influencer also needs a UAE Media Council advertiser permit.
What to track
Track first consultations by source, pregnancy bookings, and package sign-ups, separately. A pregnancy patient is worth many visits, so measure cost per booked pregnancy, not cost per click. See conversion tracking for clinics.

Frequently asked questions
Can I advertise contraception or IUD fitting on Google in the UAE?
No. Google's birth control, fertility and STI policy lists the UAE as a location where these products and services cannot be advertised. Cover them on your website instead.
Can I run Google Ads for pregnancy and antenatal care?
Generally yes, as long as the ad, keywords and landing page focus on pregnancy care and avoid restricted topics and drug names. You cannot use remarketing for them.
Should I show maternity package prices?
Yes, if accurate and with what is included and excluded. DHA rules allow fee information but ban prices that omit conditions.
Can I target women who are pregnant?
Not with remarketing or Customer Match. Google treats pregnancy as a sensitive health topic. Use search keywords such as "antenatal care" and "pregnancy doctor".
Are Instagram ads better than Google for a gynae clinic?
Google catches women already searching for a doctor. Instagram works for doctor videos and awareness. Compare in Google Ads vs Meta Ads for clinics.
