How do I get more LASIK and eye clinic patients?
Get more LASIK and eye clinic patients in the UAE: split refractive and eye care campaigns, Google's no-remarketing rule for surgery and DHA risk warnings.
To get more LASIK and eye clinic patients in the UAE, run separate Google Search campaigns for refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, ICL) and for general eye care (eye tests, cataract, children's eyes), and send refractive leads to a free or fixed-price suitability screening, not a sale. Show the surgeon's licensed title, your price range and what the screening checks. Never promise "20/20" or "no more glasses", include a visible risk note, and remember Google treats surgery as a sensitive category, so there is no remarketing for LASIK ads.

Two patient types, two campaigns
| Refractive surgery | General eye care | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical search | "LASIK Dubai price", "ICL surgery Abu Dhabi", "laser eye surgery cost" | "eye doctor near me", "cataract surgery", "paediatric ophthalmologist" |
| Who pays | Usually self-pay; check each patient's plan | Often insurance |
| Decision time | Weeks to months | Days |
| Best next step | Suitability screening | Next-available appointment |
Running both in one campaign lets cheap eye-test clicks eat the LASIK budget, or the reverse. Split them.
Google's rules for eye surgery ads
- No remarketing on surgery. Google's personalised advertising policy lists surgical and invasive procedures as a sensitive health category. Remarketing lists, Customer Match and lookalike segments are not allowed for LASIK ads. Your follow-up has to come from your own team, by phone, WhatsApp and email, with consent.
- No improbable promises. "Perfect vision guaranteed" or "throw away your glasses forever" risk Google's unreliable claims policy. Say what the screening decides and that results vary.
- Prescription drug names. Eye drops and injections for eye disease are often prescription drugs. Keep their names out of ads, keywords and pages: Google allows promotional use only in the US, Canada and New Zealand (Google, Oct 2025).
DHA and UAE rules
- Visible risk warning. The DHA expects ads to mention treatment risks, and surgical or invasive procedures need a warning in a clearly visible place (Khaleej Times, Sept 2026). Put a short risk line on the LASIK page, near the booking button.
- Banned words. No "the best", "safest", "100%", "assured success", "immediate results" or "no side effects", and no claims that you are safer or better than another clinic.
- Titles. Use the exact licence title, such as "Consultant Ophthalmologist". Optometrists must not be presented as doctors unless they hold a recognised PhD (Gulf News, Sept 2026).
- Careful with online "am I a candidate?" quizzes. UAE health advertising rules prohibit ads that encourage self-diagnosis (Al Tamimi, on Cabinet Resolution No. 7 of 2007). Frame any quiz as "book a screening", never as an answer.
- Approvals outside Dubai. MOHAP issues health advertisement licences in 1 to 3 working days. Abu Dhabi facilities follow DOH standards. In Dubai, every post naming the facility needs medical director approval under the DHA social media standard.
The 8-step plan
- Build one page per procedure. LASIK, PRK or surface laser, SMILE if offered, ICL and refractive lens exchange. Each covers who it suits, who it does not, the day of surgery, recovery, risks and price range.
- Sell the screening. List what it checks (corneal thickness and shape, prescription stability, dry eye) and how long it takes. State whether it is free or the fixed fee. This is your main conversion.
- Show the surgeon. Licensed title, years in refractive surgery, languages and a short video explaining the procedure in plain words.
- Publish a price range. Say what changes the price (technique, both eyes, follow-ups) and whether payment plans exist. LASIK searchers compare price first.
- Target the right people. UAE residents by emirate, with "Presence" location targeting so you do not pay for people abroad just researching. Run medical tourism as a separate campaign with its own offer.
- Add negatives. "Jobs", "course", "fellowship", "glasses shop", "contact lenses price", "free eye test" (if you do not offer one). See negative keywords.
- Follow up for weeks. Without remarketing, your coordinator is the remarketing. Send the screening results and quote in writing, then check in at 1, 3 and 6 weeks.
- Collect reviews after the final check. No incentives, per Google's review policy.
What leads cost
There is no public UAE LASIK benchmark. LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks, mostly US data, put physicians and surgeons at an average $4.76 click, 12.43% conversion rate and $40.04 (about AED 147) per lead. Expect refractive keywords in Dubai to cost more. Judge on cost per surgery booked. Example only: if 1 in 4 screenings books surgery and 1 in 2 leads attends a screening, a AED 2,000 acquisition budget allows AED 250 per lead. Track it with conversion tracking and call tracking.

Frequently asked questions
Can I remarket to people who visited my LASIK page?
No. Google treats surgical procedures as a sensitive health category, so remarketing lists, Customer Match and lookalikes are not allowed for those ads.
Can I advertise "20/20 vision guaranteed"?
No. It breaches Google's unreliable claims policy and DHA rules against assured results. Describe the screening and say results vary.
Should I advertise LASIK prices?
A clear range builds trust and filters out poor-fit leads. Say what is included and what changes the price.
How long until LASIK ads bring surgeries?
Screenings can start in the first weeks. Surgeries often follow weeks later, so judge after two to three months. See how long Google Ads takes to work.
