How do I get more patients from Google?

Ten steps to get more patients from Google: Business Profile, compliant reviews, treatment pages, Google Ads and tracking, for clinics in Dubai and the UAE.

Guide · 18 Oct 2026 · Access One

Quick answer

To get more patients from Google, work three channels in this order: a complete, verified Google Business Profile with steady genuine reviews (free Maps visibility), a website page for each treatment (free Search visibility), and Google Ads Search campaigns for the treatments you most want to fill (paid, immediate). Then track calls, WhatsApp and bookings so you know which channel brings patients. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence, and you cannot pay for a better free ranking.

Clinics that only do one of these leave patients on the table. The steps below cover all three.

Step-by-step: more patients from Google

  1. Claim and verify your Google Business Profile for every branch. Google says verified profiles are more likely to appear in results. Use the clinic's real name (no keyword stuffing), exact address, the phone reception answers, and the most specific primary category ("Dental clinic", "Physiotherapist", "Home health care service").
  2. Complete every field. Hours (including Ramadan and public holiday hours), services with short descriptions, attributes such as parking and wheelchair access, insurance accepted in the description, and real photos of the clinic, team and equipment. Google's local ranking guidance names complete information, accurate hours and photos as factors you control.
  3. Build reviews the right way. Ask every patient after a good visit, by WhatsApp with a direct review link. Reply to every review, briefly and without confirming any medical detail. Do not offer discounts or gifts for reviews, and do not only ask happy patients: Google's contribution policy bans incentives and selective solicitation, and violations can get reviews removed.
  4. Create one web page per treatment. "Dental implants in Jumeirah", "Home nursing in Dubai Marina", "Laser hair removal in JLT". Each page answers what it is, who it suits, how many visits, price range with conditions, insurance, doctor names and licensed titles, and how to book. These pages rank in organic results and double as landing pages for ads. More in dental SEO.
  5. Make booking effortless on a phone. Phone, WhatsApp and a short form visible without scrolling. Name, number, preferred time. No medical history fields. Pages must load fast on mobile data.
  6. Run Google Ads for the treatments you want to fill now. Search campaigns split by treatment, a tight radius, ads only in staffed hours, and negative keywords for jobs, courses and DHA exam searches. See what Google Ads can do for your clinic and how to start.
  7. Track every enquiry to a booking. Count calls over 60 seconds, form submissions and WhatsApp clicks, then import booked appointments. Without this you cannot tell a good month from a lucky one. Setup is in Google Ads conversion tracking. Add UTM tags to your Business Profile website link so Maps visits show separately in Analytics.
  8. Answer fast. A patient searching "dentist near me" calls the next clinic if you do not pick up. Staff the phone and WhatsApp during ad hours, and review missed calls daily.
  9. Stay inside DHA rules. The DHA medical advertisement standard applies to clinic content: no "the best", "100%" or "no side effects", only licensed titles, written patient consent for photos and testimonials, and before-and-after images with a "results may vary" disclaimer. Gulf News has a plain-English summary (updated September 2026).
  10. Review monthly. Business Profile calls and direction requests, organic traffic to treatment pages, and Google Ads cost per booking. Move budget towards what books.

What not to do

  • Do not pay anyone who promises to "rank you number one on Maps". Google says there is no way to pay for a better local ranking.
  • Do not create fake branches or virtual-office listings. They get suspended.
  • Do not send all ad traffic to your home page.
  • Do not use remarketing for health ads. Google's personalised advertising policy blocks it for treatments and conditions.
  • Do not judge Google Ads on clicks. Judge it on booked patients.

How much can ads add?

LocaliQ's 2026 search benchmarks (mostly US accounts) put the average cost per lead at $72.97 for dentists and $40.04 for physicians and surgeons. In Dubai, check your own keyword prices in Keyword Planner. If a new patient is worth AED 3,000 over a year and a booking costs AED 400 in ads, the maths works. Details in Google Ads cost per click. Frequently asked questions

How do I get my clinic to show on Google Maps?

Create and verify a Google Business Profile, choose the right category, add accurate hours, services and photos, and collect genuine reviews. Ranking depends on relevance, distance and prominence.

Can I pay Google to rank higher on Maps?

No. Free local ranking cannot be bought. You can pay for ads that appear above or within Maps results, but they are labelled as ads and do not change your free position.

Is it allowed to ask patients for Google reviews?

Yes, ask all patients. Do not offer incentives, do not ask only happy patients, and do not discourage negative reviews. Never reveal medical details when replying.

Should I focus on SEO or Google Ads first?

Do the Business Profile first because it is free and fast. Then run ads for immediate bookings while treatment pages build organic rankings over the following months.

How long until I see more patients from Google?

Ads can bring calls in the first week. Business Profile improvements usually show within weeks. SEO for competitive Dubai treatments typically takes several months.
