How do I attract medical tourists to my UAE clinic?
How UAE clinics attract medical tourists: pick markets and specialties, country-level Google Ads, language pages, visa rules, all-in pricing and aftercare.
To attract medical tourists to a UAE clinic, pick two or three source countries and one or two specialties you can sell abroad, then build a separate page, campaign and coordinator for each market, in the patient's language. Make the trip easy: a written treatment plan before travel, clear all-in pricing, visa guidance, hotel and transfer help, and a follow-up plan for after they fly home. Dubai drew 691,478 health tourists in 2023, with dentistry and dermatology the biggest specialties.

Where UAE medical tourists come from
A 2024 DHA report put Dubai at 691,478 international health tourists in 2023, spending over AED 1.034 billion, up from about 674,000 in 2022 (DHA). By region, Asia sent 33%, the GCC 28% and Europe and the CIS 23%. Dentistry (29%), dermatology (27%) and gynaecology (13%) led demand (Gulf Business). That tells you where to start: GCC and South Asian markets, and specialties where patients can finish treatment in a short trip.
Rules and logistics to sort first
- Visas. Many visitors enter on a normal tourist visa or visa on arrival, depending on nationality. For a dedicated medical visa, u.ae says the sponsor must be a UAE-licensed hospital, with a medical report, a letter from the host, health insurance and a financial deposit. GDRFA Dubai issues 90 or 180-day medical visas; ICP covers the other emirates. Companion visas exist too. A clinic cannot assume it can sponsor, so partner with a hospital or point patients to the right visa.
- Abu Dhabi. The DoH medical tourism standard (2019) requires providers to hold an international medical tourism accreditation from its approved list, handle tourist complaints and report on treated tourists.
- Dubai. DHA runs the Dubai Health Experience (DXH) medical tourism portal, described on u.ae. Ask DHA about being listed.
- Advertising. Your ads still follow UAE rules, such as the DHA advertising standard, and the rules of each country you target. Some countries restrict foreign medical ads, so check before launching.
The 8-step plan
- Choose markets and offers. Two or three countries, one or two specialties. A dental implant or veneer package for Saudi or Omani patients is a clearer offer than "all treatments for everyone". See dental implant marketing and cosmetic surgery marketing.
- Build one landing page per market. In the patient's language (Arabic, Russian, Urdu, English), with prices in their currency and AED, the trip timeline day by day, how many visits are needed, and what happens after they go home.
- Target the country, not the UAE. Run separate Google Search campaigns per country with location set to Presence in that country. Use keywords like "dental implants in Dubai" and "rhinoplasty Dubai price" in the local language. Language targeting no longer applies on Search, so your ad and page language do the work; see Google removes language targeting.
- Remote assessment before travel. Ask for photos, X-rays or reports on WhatsApp and send a written plan and quote. Where a face-to-face consultation is legally required before treatment, say so up front.
- Quote all-in. Treatment, tests, follow-ups, and optional hotel and transfers. Hidden extras kill trust across borders.
- Give one coordinator per patient. Same person from first message to flight home, in their language, on WhatsApp. Track with WhatsApp lead tracking.
- Plan aftercare. Video follow-ups, a local partner doctor if possible, and a written plan if something goes wrong. Patients ask "what if" more than "how much".
- Collect stories in their language. Google reviews (with a link, no incentives) and consented video stories from patients of the same nationality build trust fastest.
What it costs
Click costs vary a lot by country, and travellers take longer to decide than local patients. There is no public benchmark for medical tourism. LocaliQ's 2026 benchmarks (mostly US) show physicians and surgeons at $40.04 per lead (about AED 147); expect a higher cost per booked patient for travellers. Start with a fixed test budget per country, track enquiry to arrival, and keep the countries that pay back. Use what is a good cost per lead for a clinic and conversion tracking.

Frequently asked questions
Can my clinic sponsor a medical visa?
u.ae lists a UAE-licensed hospital as the sponsor for patient entry permits. Clinics usually partner with a hospital or guide patients to the right visit visa.
Which countries should a UAE clinic target first?
Start where the data points: GCC and Asian markets sent most of Dubai's health tourists in 2023. Pick markets where you have language skills and a clear offer.
Should I advertise in Arabic?
For GCC markets, yes. Write Arabic ads and Arabic landing pages, because Google now matches Search ads by ad and page language.
Which treatments sell best to medical tourists?
Dentistry and dermatology led Dubai health tourist demand in 2023. Short, planned treatments that finish in one trip are easiest to sell.
